Lithuania: Vilnius on Video
“Vilnius on Video” (VoV) is a US-owned Lithuanian firm, established in 1997 to produce high quality tourism films for retail sale and commercial broadcast. VoV films combine the Western outlook of its owner with the local insight from 10 years of being located in the Baltics working with Baltic staff and experts. VoV’s DVD’s are sold worldwide and used by libraries and embassies. VoV’s series about the three Baltic States has begun TV broadcast.
The personnel involved will be: a cameraman, an assistant, a sound engineer, all hired under contract. T.S. Wilbur will be the producer and director.
VoV has spent literally years filming and chooses just the right times to do so. The company does historical research and searches archives for unusual material, consulting local experts in history, ethnography, music and art. Among its products are corporate and documentary films especially for investment and tourism, including its own retail films and television programmes. Among its clients are the Lithuanian and Latvian governments, educational foundations, foreign investors, and the Tourism departments of Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn as well as local TV stations.
In terms of geographic coverage. VoV works around the Baltic Sea region, especially in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. VoV has the proven technical expertise and extensive experience filming in the 3 Baltic States to help make "Languages on your Screen" a successful project. VoV has been a leader in the local tourism film market, winning the first tourism prize awarded to a Lithuanian company and the first to release a DVD about a Baltic state ("Lithuania", 2002). Technically, VoV pioneered the use of multiple languages on DVD's and Internet broadcasting, both as a broadcaster and as the first company in the region to sell Internet licensing rights for its films. VoV's tri-Baltic experience includes a number of projects, including "The Amber Gateway" (for the US Department of Commerce), "Baltic Capitals -Impressions" and "Baltic Capitals - Experience" (supported by EU/Phare), and VoV's own "Baltic States" TV series.
